Transport

The meeting point of the EngCer 2019 participants is the Bratislava central bus station.
From the Bratislava central bus station a shuttle bus will be provided and will take the participants directly to the Smolenice Castle. It is supposed that the shuttle bus will leave Bratislava for the Smolenice Castle on May 12, 2019 approximately at 16:00.
After the conference the shuttle bus will take the participants from the Smolenice Castle to the Vienna airport. The exact time of departure from Bratislava to the Smolenice Castle and from the Smolenice Castle to the Vienna airport will be announced as soon as the Organizing committee receives the travel schedules of the participants.

How to get to the Bratislava central bus station

From the Vienna airport (VIE)

There is a direct bus connection between the Vienna airport and the Bratislava central bus station. The journey lasts approximately 1 hour. The actual bus timetable you can find here.

From the Bratislava airport (BTS)

If you arrive to the Bratislava airport, please contact our secretary Zdena Kapišinská.

From the Bratislava central train station

There is a direct trolleybus connection from the Bratislava central train station to the Bratislava central bus station Mlynské nivy. The actual timetable of trolleybus no. 210 you can find here.

For those who would like to come to the Smolenice Castle individually by train or by bus, the actual train and bus schedules will be added in time. As the distance from the Smolenice train station or bus stop to the Smolenice Castle is quite long, a car can be provided upon request. The participants who would like to come by car can be provided with a map with detailed instructions.

Accommodation

The participants will be accommodated in the Smolenice Castle. Because of a limited number of single rooms there is a high probability of sharing room with somebody else. The facilities at the castle are excellent for the purposes of the conference and the entire workshop will be held on-site. All meals and social events will be arranged within the premises of the castle.

Insurance

The organisers do not accept any liability or responsibility for death, illness or injury to persons or for the loss, or damage of a property or for any financial loss of any person attending the conference. Participants should make their own arrangements in respect of health and travel insurance.

Currency

The official currency in the Slovak Republic is the Euro. Exchange offices and ATMs can be found at the airport, in all hotels and in many places in and around Bratislava centre. Major credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and most shops. In the village Smolenice there are two ATMs.
Remark: There is no ATM in the Smolenice Castle. In the Smolenice Castle restaurant only cash is accepted.

Visa applications

All travel, lodging and registration expenses will be the responsibility of the individual participant. Special letters of invitation to be used for visa application will be provided upon written request by the conference organizers.
